Ground Zero

“Ground Zero” group exhibition of contemporary Greek and Dutch artists opens on Friday May 9th at 20:00 CAMP! Contemporary Art Meeting Point. The Ambassador of of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Greece Mr. Jan Versteeg will open the exhibition.

Nineteen artists with diverse cultural profile, present their work in one common conceptual framework. It is a dialogue between Dutch and Greek artists on the basis of a very specific emotional condition. The creators are asked to reach their own personal “Ground Zero” and to deliver whatever comes next for each one of them personally. The specific creational condition for the artists is the “no further”, the delivery of the very moment that the person reaches the lowest limit of their existence. The reasons or the special conditions that the artist reaches the “bottom of the barrel” are not of interest. It could be the loss of a beloved person, or the conviction of a love, or the lack of inspiration or even the crisis in the era we live in at a level of ethics, finance or values. These are all the emotional paths that lead the creators to their own “Ground Zero”. This exhibition is the effort to reveal the way that the artists deal with despair or optimism through the experience of a boundary condition. The presentation of the exhibition aims at involving emotionally the participants through the specific setting.
