Art Procesors

Art Processors
Jerusalem Theater, 1996

This installation shows 7 big and 144 small Art Processors, specially made for this occasion. The 144 small ones are spread over the left wall as flowers on a tree, while the 7 long high paintings on the right wall might suggest columns or tree trunks.

Art Processors are devices that process anything called art. They touch the theme of destruction and transformation. They consist of a red ring-stone inside a transparent glass jar, standing on a podium and receiving art via the antenna-like transparent stick, just like radios receive and transform sound waves and plant leaves receive and transform light.

The red ring stones press the art like the stones of oil-presses press oil out of olives. Art theorists might relate the dark grey square base to the black square of Malevich.
